Buying your own holiday home

With your own holiday home, you have complete freedom to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside combined with all the comfort and luxuries of home and to holiday whenever you want and for as long as you like. No booking in advance, no need to pack. Just come and go as the mood takes you. There are many attractions and places to visit in the area. Sandy beaches, beautiful coastlines, picturesque villages and unspoilt countryside are all waiting to be explored.

We are aware that buying a Holiday Home is a big decision so we have put together some FAQ's  to help you decide if it’s right for you.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do static caravans use standard electrical currents?
A. Yes.

Q. How is the hot water provided?

A. In most instances water is heated by an instantaneous calor gas water heater.

Q. Can caravans use domestic gas?

A. In nearly all circumstances caravans are fitted with calor gas appliances making them unsuitable for domestic gas use.  We check and fit the new gas bottles for you as required, to ensure a continuous supply.

Q. Can I loan to my family and friends?
A. Yes. All we ask is that all visitors to the site adhere to the site rules.

Q. How often can I use my holiday caravan?
A.
We are open all year round and the only restriction is that you must vacate for a minimum of 28 days a year. At present this can be taken all at once, or spread out over holidays and individual nights away.

Q. How long will my holiday caravan last?
A. Each individual caravan has a licence which usually runs between 10-15 years and lodges up to 99 years 

Q. What happens when my licence expires; will I have to upgrade?
A. Unlike many sites, if your holiday home is in good repair, we will review your licence annually and will not expect you to upgrade.

Q. What if I want to sell my caravan holiday home some time in the future?
A. We will resell it for you or you can sell privately; as long as you inform the park and adhere to our park restrictions. 

Q. How much are annual site fees?
A. Site fees are your main cost and for 2010 are £2,000.00 + VAT per year for static caravans and for single lodges or £2,350.00 + VAT per year for a double lodge; payable quarterly by 1st January, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October. 

Q. Will I need to insure my holiday home and its contents?
A. Specialist Holiday Home insurance is important – we can offer the very best cover for your holiday home and its contents or you can buy suitable cover from other providers should you wish.  Please note that if you source your own insurance we will require a copy of your schedule for our records.  Insurance typically ranges from £150 - £400.  Please speak to us for an indication of premium on individual units.

Q. How can I finance my holiday home?
A. Many customers choose to spread payments for their holiday home.  This is not a service we offer but we can certainly advise you of some companies that do.

Q. Can I make an income from my caravan holiday home?
A. Some holiday home owners choose to subsidise the cost of ownership, or make a small profit, by renting their holiday caravan home. We offer rental programs – please speak to us for further information. 

Q. Can I live in my non-double glazed, non-centrally heated caravan in the winter?
A. Yes you can, and to achieve comfortable levels of heating it will just mean that you have to use free standing radiators and maybe an electric blanket, therefore using more electricity.  

Q. Are pets allowed on your site?
A. Pets are more than welcome to holiday with you.  Dogs, must of course, be on a lead at all times and walked off site. 

Q. What facilities does your site have?

A. We have a shop, launderette, clubhouse and children’s play area on site.
